The Schlumbergera, also called Christmas cactus or Thanksgiving cactus, is a striking cactus that deserves to be the centre of attention in your living room. The Schlumbergera Tricolor is a special type of Schlumbergera, because it blooms in 3 colours: red, white and purple. To achieve this amazing mix of colours, three Schlumbergera have been grown together in one pot, creating a striking mix of flowers. The Christmas cactus starts flowering in October, bringing colour into your home during the dark winter days. You will enjoy the beautiful, large flowers for weeks as it has a long flowering period. The popular houseplant is originally from Brazil. The Christmas cactus got its name because it always blooms around Christmas. You can enjoy your Christmas cactus for years to come, the plant can live up to 30 years! The plants will be delivered with a height of 15-25cm (measured including the pot).
Care
Plant the Schlumbergera Mix 'Tricolor' in a generous flower pot as soon as possible after receiving it. Choose a pot that has holes in the bottom with matching saucer. This will allow the pouring water to drain properly. For a cactus, Schlumbergera may have quite a lot of water: best moderately much, such that the soil is always slightly moist but especially not wet. Preferably place the flower pot in a moderately warm, fairly bright spot. Avoid full sun. Too much direct sunlight will cause leaves to turn red. Remove spent flowers regularly: this encourages the plant to sprout other flower buds. This plant is not poisonous. However, skin irritation may occur after contact with hands or eyes.
