The poinsettia is a very well-known houseplant and is mainly sold just before Christmastime. The plant originates from Mexico where it can grow in large bushes. Nowadays it is mostly cultivated for its ornamental value. The poinsettia has serrated, dark green, leaves. The plant also has small inconspicuous flowers, which are green with a yellow edge. However, the large bracts are the show-stoppers and are a beautiful shade of red. Together these bracts form the shape of a star.
Care
The poinsettia is a plant that does not need much water. In fact, with too much water, the plant will drop its leaves. So no layer of water should remain at the bottom of the pot. The best way to water the poinsettia is to submerge it in lukewarm water once a week. Drain the plant well and place it back in the pot. Be careful because the poinsettia's sap is poisonous.

The plants have a height of 5-10cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 7cm.
