Humulus lupulus ‘Nordbrau’ is a strong, fast-growing climbing plant with rough leaves. Humulus is one of the best-known hop varieties in the Netherlands; the egg-shaped fruits of this plant are used in beer brewing. The plant sprouts green-yellow flowers every spring, which then grow into hop cones in August and September. The beautiful hop cones will look graceful in the garden. This plant has few demands on its location and can grow anywhere. It is the ideal plant to grow against a climbing screen or pergola, because of its compact growth. It can grow up to six to eight meters high.

Care
Humulus lupulus ‘Nordbrau’ is a climbing plant, but good support is required for climbing. If you want to keep the hop plant compact, it is best to let 3 to 5 branches grow in the spring and prune everything to the ground in the autumn. Hops belong to the perennial family, which means that the leaves die off in the winter and the plant starts to grow again in the spring. It is very winter-hardy; the roots overwinter underground. Place the Humulus preferably in the sun. Water the plant regularly, the soil may remain slightly moist.

Size
The plants are 50 to 60cm high upon delivery (measured incl. pot). The plants are delivered in pots with a diameter/cross-section of 15cm.
