Gloriosa 'Rothschildiana' is an unusual climbing plant with fiery red petals with yellow edges. The long yellow stamens give these flowers an exotic look. The tubers can be planted either in a pot on the balcony or in the open ground, so you don't need to have a garden to enjoy these beautiful flowers. The flowers bloom from July to September and can reach a height of 150cm, making them a standout in the summer garden. The tubers can be planted between March and May.
Care Gloriosa likes a warm spot in the morning sun where it also prefers to be at a minimum temperature of 16°. Regularly cut out the spent flowers and give it regular fertiliser. Keep the soil well moist while doing so. The Gloriosa tuber should be overwintered indoors as soon as the leaves freeze off. The corm should then dry out completely and not be watered again during the winter. Plant the corms between March and May.
