The Cycas Revoluta is also known as the 'King Sago Palm' or 'Sago Palm' and originates from southern Japan. Here this palm can grow up to 5 to 7 metres high. Cycas Revoluta is a very slow grower and takes between 50 and 100 years to reach this height! Cycas actually belongs in the group of palm ferns, not palm trees. The most remarkable thing about Cycas, apart from the fact that it can last a lifetime if cared for properly, is that it existed in the Carboniferous period. Palm fossils indicate that it is one of the oldest palms in the world.
Care
Cycas' slow growth makes it an excellent houseplant. The plant can also be placed outside, but not in direct sunlight and it is not hardy. Furthermore, the plant can withstand temperatures from 0 to 42° Celsius. Cycas do not need much water, the roots are very sensitive to too much water. In winter, the plant can easily go 4 to 6 weeks without water! It is important to note that this palm should absolutely not be eaten by humans or animals. The substances in the leaves are irritating and can be toxic if ingested in large quantities.
Size
The plants have a height of 45-60cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 15cm.
